Hi Adam! Sorry it took so long for someone to answer your request. I am doing so now because I was put in charge of this very neglected website almost 2 weeks ago. I was going through the comments and saw that you had asked for ad prices last September. I hope you haven’t written The River Rat off! You must know how hard it is to find good reliable employees.

    Hello Marc!

Huge River Rat fan here in Park County 😉 Was wondering if you ever do free ads to help with non-profit organizations? My name is Laura and I am a board member for the Far View Horse Rescue in Fairplay. We’re hosting our 2nd annual Fall Fest fundraising event on Saturday, October 3rd from 10am-2pm. Everything will be outside . . . .Hay Rides, pumpkin patch, pony and horse rides, silent auction, petting zoo, hay maze, games and more! I am happy to send you a flyer too with all the juicy details. Just let me know. We appreciate your time and consideration!!

I’m glad you were a huge River Rat fan back in September! Hope that hasn’t changed because no one responded to your question. I just recently was put in charge of KSBV’s website, and saw your request while going through the comments. The type of ad you were wondering about is a public service announcement, or PSA, and the answer is yes. I know I’m a little late, but you can contact me through this comment page when you have your next fundraiser, and we would be happy to help. Keep listening, and watch the website. I am working on it everyday!

the person reading the news is HORRIBLE he can’t read worth a crap and his voice is a monotone. He has no on air charisma period. My 8 year old son could do a helluva better job.

Give Marc a break! He is the station owner, and had a stroke in May, 2019. He was back on the air in 3 weeks. Pretty brave if you ask me! Had a great voice before the stroke, and is sounding more and more like himself everyday. Some things take time, and I think this is worth waiting for!

    Hello,
I have been listening to KSBV for a number of years when out in the BV area playing in the water. Have always enjoyed your station!
Recently moved to Florissant, so am able to actually pick up the station.
I was wondering if you all have any stickers. Stickers are my thing, and would love to have 1 or 2 for my collection. I’m not looking for free stickers. Will gladly pay!
    Thank you,
    Teresa

    Dear Marc at KSBV,
You are doing a major disservice to the listening public.
How long will you continue to scare the public with your emphasis on the “coronavirus” and “covid” statistics?

The restrictive mandates, in response to the virus, have now been in place for over 7 months. The people are exhausted, confused and scared and you keep making it worse: reporting on conflicting new edicts from out-of-control government agencies, showing videos of people wearing masks (outdoors!!!), and making it sound like “we’re all gonna die” from this disease.

    Here are the facts.
    – most people will not get the disease
    – among those that do, the VAST majority will recover
    – this is NOT Ebola or the plague
    – it is still primarily fatal to the elderly with an average of 2.6 co-morbidities (other serious health issues primarily due to lifestyle choices)
    – the statistics of “covid deaths” is greatly exaggerated since it has been documented that people who tested positive and then died of something else (car accidents, shootings, falls, etc.) have been counted as “covid deaths”

You need to de-emphasize this fascination you all have with the disease and report on REAL NEWS. As I indicated above, you are guilty of doing a disservice to the listening public. Now STOP IT.

Give Marc a break! His reports are what Chaffee County and Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center ask him to report. Maybe you should take your complaint to them.

Glad you found us and are listening! I was just put in charge of the website about a week ago. Right now, just working on being able to stream directly from KSBV.net. Don’t have a game plan, so not exactly sure what apps, or what anything will end up on the website. Any suggestions? Keep listening, and rock on!

    Good Day KSBV+,

Thanks for taking the time to read this note….
My name is Phil Bytheway (yes that is my last name – it’s English) and I have a passion for radio/TV station stickers (bumper, window, window cling, phone and mailing labels). I have a collection of over 42,000 and am wondering if your station (or sister stations) has any stickers available at this time?
I also trade with around 10 folks around the World. In addition to stickers, I also collect magnets, keychains and buttons (pins).
If your station has any of these items (old or new), would it be possible to send some my way (for stickers, more than one for the folks I trade with would be nice… but ONE is better than NONE!) I’m hoping to get one of each type from every station in the US and Canada.
I have retired from an Electrical Engineering career and did some volunteering at our local Classical music station KING-FM (yes, they have stickers.) I also volunteer at the Museum of Flight here in Seattle.
I publish a newsletter for radio/TV promo collectors, called DecalcoMania, 10 times/year. Send me your Email address if you want to see a sample copy and I’ll send one out right away.
My mailing address is: (Email: phil.bytheway@gmail.com)

Thank you for your time… I KNOW you’re busy
    God Bless…

    Phil Bytheway

PS: If you are the wrong person to send this to, please forward it to the correct person… thanks.
PS: If I have any radio stickers you are interested in, I would be willing to send extras or Email scans in exchange.
PS: If you prefer, I can send a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope to help out. Just let me know what size, postage and an address and I’ll get it to you right away.
PS: If you prefer, I can send a donation to help out. Just let me know how.
PS: I also publish an on-line newsletter for The International Radio Club of America (.pdf) focusing on listening for distant AM stations (DXing). Sample upon request (ircaonline dot org).

      Howdy Phil!

Thanks for taking the time to contact us all the way from Seattle! I wish we had bumper stickers! Marc Scott is the sole owner of this station and KAYV out of Gunnison, Colorado. He has been doing everything himself at KSBV, aka The River Rat, for 20+ years. Marc brought me on board about a year and a half ago, and put me in charge of the website less than a week ago. Have been going to suggest bumper stickers to him for a while now. I guess it’s time! Would love to see a sample copy of DecalcoMania. Also, I have a few bumper stickers from a radio station that was in Detroit in the 80s. Could send you a couple if you like. Look forward to hearing from you again!

    Good afternoon
I listen to your station in Denver CO during the day. The main radio DJ (male) who has a monotone voice is terrible. How about a someone with a little personality? He reads commercials for companies so poorly, I can’t listen to him. Thank you for your time.

Thanks for listening from Denver! Marc Scott is who you are referring to, and he owns the station. He had a stroke in May, 2019, and was back on the air in 3 weeks! Very brave! Had a great voice before the stroke, and is sounding like that again, more and more everyday. These things take time! Hope you keep on listening!

Please. Please Retire. This air space should be used productively in a non biased, intellectual manner. You aren’t Rush Limbaugh, and it’s unfortunate but true, your stroke as effected your ability to communicate . It’s is time to hang up the mic.

Please give Marc a break! He owns the station and has done everything to run it himself for 20 years. Plus he owns KAYV in Gunnison. Was very brave of him to return to the air 3 weeks after his stroke. And like I said, he owns the station. Can say and play whatever he wants! Would you retire?!?

Wow!!! I just discovered the River Rat, what a breath of fresh air! I recently moved to the Westcliffe area and fortunately I’m on a ridge top. You are coming in "wall to wall". I’ve listened to Denver and Colorado Springs classic rock for the past three years and I needed a change. The first song I heard this morning was Little River Band’s "It’s a Long Way There". Later you played The Allman Brothers "Dreams". I’m hooked! Keep up the good work!

    Good morning.

I am a local listener and generally enjoy listening to your station but the religious programming you air makes me turn the channel. I appreciate the music and news but the religious programming is not appropriate. Unfortunately I will have no choice but to have to quit listening to your station if you keep airing such material.

I hope you don’t quit listening because of a couple hours a week! Do what I do when the religious programming comes on. Turn off the radio station and put on a favorite CD!

I like your station and listen whenever I can. Rarely am I anywhere that it is easy to get a signal and it seems your streaming app ends up with a lot of buffering. But I like the station enough that I put up with the difficulties. Largely because unlike the corporate classic rock stations there seems to be a lot less repetition. However, this morning at around 9am I heard four songs in a row that had already been played this morning since I got out of bed around 7am. An american band, rollin’, I shot the sheriff, and I need a lover

Sorry about that! Repeats happen sometimes when the news gets recorded, then played again later. Will work on it! Also working on getting a different player to end the buffering. Until then, try getting us through the Simple Radio app. Know people that have had success with that!

Good morning. I was listening to the station this morning and noticed that the commercial for El Tapatio ends by saying that the food truck is next to the Colorado Recycling Trailer. It’s actually at Colorado Sports Recycler. Maybe it’s something that can be corrected.

    Thanks.
